Abortions?
Some how, the neighbor's dog managed to get pregnant. Well it probably isn't all that mysterious. She's schnauzer, with papers, and she got out of the house a while back. She came back and within the expected time, gave birth to a littler of really odd looking, mixed breed pups.

The neighbor isn't sure what he wants to do. He could try selling them himself but might have to let a shop sell them. He keeps kicking himself for not taking the dog in to do an abortion.

Can abortions be performed on dogs? I heard that abortions left females sterile.

Is this true?

RE: Abortions?
I have heard of them being able to perform this procedure on animals but I too was under the impression that it left them sterile.

I don't know exactly about abortions leaving a female dog sterile. I do know that if you want to get them spaded and they are pregnant, and you do not want the puppies, then they will do an abortion for alil extra money.

I have heard they can do a procedure Im sure it doesnt leave them sterile but if you dont want puppies then surely it might be worth you getting her spade at the same time?

The concern is these puppies simply aren't what the owner had in mind. He fancies himself a breeder, well he is working toward that goal, and feels the puppies will slow his ability to breed his dog effectively. Ideally, he would abort these puppies in favor of a pregnancy by a dog of his choice.

Well if he wanted to choose then he should have kept a better eye on his dog LOL

I completely agree with Louise. HE should have better control of his pet. Allowing female (while in heat) pets outside results in pregnacy.

RE: Abortions?
All I can say in this situation, in addition to agreeing with the fact that he should have kept a better eye on his dog, is that an abortion in a dog is a procedure that carries risks. If he does want to be able to breed his dog in the future, having these puppies aborted may not only endanger the dogs health, but destroy any future chances of pregnancy.
