RE: Been to a Dog Show?

LOL what stands? Its not like a footy game lol. You walk around the rings, find a seat ( best to take your own ) and go sit around the ring and watch the breeds that interest you being judged. My only advice is if you wish to speak to breeders/exhibitors, do it after they have been in the ring and never touch a groomed up dog before they have been in without asking first. Dont be upset if someone says no till after they have been in the ring either....... its not them being impolite in the slightest, its just that exhibitors spend hours grooming before the show for a few mins in the ring and a chance at winning and no matter how clean you think your hands are, they really arent, especially in toy/coated breeds, coats mess up easily.
There are small shows up and down the country ( open shows ) as well as championship shows ( which qualify dogs for crufts ). For those dogs who are pedigree but not necessarily registered you can also find companion shows to go to and have fun at. They have some classes for mixes too, all procceeds go to charity. I would say for sure find a show in your area and go. They are great fun, well the warm summer ones are, you can often get some great dog things too at them. Crufts is probably the best most well known show to go to, if you are going to look for or at a specific breed you will for sure find it at the discover dogs stands there ,where you can discuss and find out if they will suit you and be able to touch them to your hearts content. Remember not all breeds will be on the same days at the big shows , so do check what days / breeds you are interested in seeing first.
