Cat blinded in air gun shooting
A cat had to have an eye and a leg removed after it was shot at close range with an air weapon in Norfolk.

The five-year-old ginger tabby was found with pellets in its face and shoulder at RAF Marham on Wednesday.

The RSPCA said the animal suffered wounds to its face and mouth and was left blind in its left eye. A pellet in its left shoulder fractured the bone.

An appeal has been launched by the people who found the cat to raise money for its treatment.

'Sickening incident'

The RSPCA said it had contributed £200 towards the fund.

Ben Kirby, of the RSPCA, said: "This was a shocking attack, carried out at close range.

"It is thanks to the hard work of the vets and the kindness and generosity of those who helped the cat that he should make a good recovery.

"However, we still need to find out who was responsible for this sickening incident and I'd appeal to anyone who has information to come forward."

He added that the cat seemed to have been well cared for but an owner has not come forward to claim him.

If the owner cannot be found the RSPCA will try to find a new home for him.
