. TBH the way to stop cats pulling the scratching post over it to have the socket inserted into the floor boards and just screwing in a new post everytime you get one. I've had ones with extra wide bases, extra heavy bases etc and they've all been tipped over. The problem I have is finding one tall enough as one of my cats really like to stretch out when he's scratching and even with a 2 foot post his bum still seems about a mile away from his front claws even when they're at the top of the post.
