Declawing vs. Claw Caps
So, do you agree with declawing a cat or do you think it's better to just use those claw caps? Do you trim your kitty's nails? I won't have a cat declawed because of the pain involved in it. I don't have claw caps for mine either, but think they're really a good idea and I've known cats who have had them. They are soft rubber covers for their claws, and I know it's silly but they even come in colors! LOL!

I don't agree with declawing a cat as they wouldn't be able to defend themselves when out. My two cats are really good and use the scratching post when inside. I haven't heard of claw caps, what will they think of next!

RE: Declawing vs. Claw Caps
I strongly oppose declawing, it is a cruel procedure.

I have used those claw caps. They are made of plastic, and yes, they come in all kinds of funny colors. My kitties were wearing manicure! Big Grin The colors serve a good purpose though when you have multiple cats: if you find a lose cap, you know right away what kitty has lost it.

RE: Declawing vs. Claw Caps
I too would not declaw my cat there are so many things that can go wrong and it can cause a number of strange problems. For some cats once they have their claws removed they refuse to use the cat litter box and if you are able to get them to use it you have to find special soft litter. They also lose the ability to knead which is calming and comforting to some cats not to mention the possibilities of infection with that type of surgery or as previously mentioned their inability to protect themselves should they need to.
