Problem with rabbits?
Does anyone else have this problem?
My cat currently is bringing in usually at least 1 rabbit a day!!, Usually dead, all sizes from bunnie to big! have no idea how he gets them thru the cat flap.
We know he has one, when he doesn't meow as he comes thru, then the chase is on, to make sure he doesn't take it upstairs!!
Although the other day, he managed to meow with the rabbit in his mouth. It was a shock at first (when we found the first decaying one in my son's wardrobe, - we had wondered what the stench was)
Sometimes he eats them (apart from the head, the tail, ears, and guts), others he just decapitates, sometimes, he leaves them whole, and plays with them , throwing them around.. We 've had one brought in, still alive, hopping around the house (when we got it out of his mouth, -by the way, find it difficult to get him to drop them) one, semi -alive, which we had to give back to him, to kill quickly.(which was upsetting for the kids)
so apart from all this killing!! (before was only shrews, and voles, so less blood etc..)he's such a character, very vocal, follows us around like a dog, has to sleep with someone, but guaranteed he has to hunt for a couple of hours everyday, so he is often gone for part of the day, but is mostly happy to weave in and out of our legs, sit on us, and climb up us, or meow like crazy when hungry. He's just two years old, so maybe the hunting habit will drop off eventually???
We found him as an abandoned kitten at about 8 weeks of age, so is an asian moggy (yep we brought him back from Asia!!) so also rabbits are new to him this summer!!
