Your Dogs Bad Habits
Does your dog(s) have any bad habits that drive you nuts? What are they?

I have a dog that gets into the garbage or stands and pulls things off the counters if I leave for more than an hour. She will tear the garbage up and strew it across the house and do things of that nature and then when I get home she lowers her ears and stays close to the ground even before I see what she has done because she knows it was bad.

I have a little dog also that pees when she gets scared or reprimanded for being naughty. At first it was sad and amusing after this many years you would think she'd realize that she is not going to get beat and stop piddling on my floor and herself - oh well maybe she is just a slow learner.

Our youngest dog has never learned to stop jumping up on people!! No matter what we do/try he still jumps up on us, which would be ok if he was not 90 pounds... Smile

RE: Your Dogs Bad Habits
I have to admit that our two boys have many bad habits. Our Chihuahua sometimes thinks he can just pee anywhere and our Cocker loves to think the garbage can is his private lunch bucket. He doesn't spread it out throughout the house though, but he dips his nose in for a quick nibble of whatever smells good on the top. I know....I need a lid! I know how to fix the Chihuahua's peeing problem too...but he's actually our daughter's dog and she should be the one to walk around with him tied to her all day. It's a principal thing. They both also bark horribly when anyone comes to the door...it's like a kennel in here! I've heard canned air works for that so I'm going to give it a try.

Justine has a lot of bad habbits comming from her past, but they start to get better every day.
She used to pee everywhere, just because she didn't know where to go (she was 2 when we got her and spend her entire life outside in a kennel) she still barks and howls when someone visits us, and she has food agression.
Also when walking outside she freaks out against every single dog she comes accross.

Stil she is the most wonderful dog we ever had, and we've had a lot!

RE: Your Dogs Bad Habits
Dogs are supposed to be “Man’s Best Friend” but without proper training and consistency they can develop some bad habits. Each dog is different and may have a variety of bad habits which can make your life pretty stressful.

I am in awe of pet owners who always have mannerly, well behaved dogs. My dog is generally well behaved, but at times I have difficulty controlling her when we get ready to go outside. She jumps and barks and whines because she is so excited. I know why she does it, and it is my fault. I made the mistake of riling her up in the past just to watch her do this because I thought it was funny. Now she thinks that is what is expected when I say “Let’s go outside.” We are working to change this bad habit that I inadvertently taught her. Each dog has their own personality and that is reflected in both the behavior of the dog and the success of training methods. Some dogs require a different approach, but many dogs respond to basic consistent training.Smile

RE: Your Dogs Bad Habits
Well I have a 3 yr Puppy. She is loving and attentive to some commands. However, the problem is she barks at nearly everything that moves. I have tried many tricks and trainers to control this bad habit. Treats for not barking hasn't worked so far. please help...
