help with dog that shows aggressive behaviour to other animals
Hi, I dont know if anyone could give some advice, I found a dog a few wks back and as yet havent found her owners, If i cant find her owners i was thinkin of keeping her BUT i have another 2 dogs and i have been finding out shes not particually good with other animals, Going through all sorts of emotions because i dont know what to do for the best and i am worried because im unsure if she will be destroyed if i send her to rehoming because of her behaviour, She loves ppl and since she turned up on my doorstep hasnt given me reason to think shes a nasty dog, Untill you walk her, If she sees another dog her chest goes out, hair is up, goes up on back leggs, barking, growling, I hate to think what would happen if she got off, Also she wriggels out of collars(her neck is bigger than her head), I have tried a harness and she still gets out of it, Ive put a muzzle on her and she gets that off, After telling her no and pulling back on her lead she'll cower on the floor so i start to walk her again and shell do the same again, In my garden she runs around my dogs like something gone mad then runs at them, bangs into them and growls runs off and does the same thing over and over, My dogs just look at me like whats going on, or stands with her chest out face to face with my dogs, She seems always up for a fight but so completely different around ppl, I have rottweiler's that are as placid as you can get but her behaviour is upsetting my dogs, I just dont know what to do for the best. Im sorry this is so long but i would really appreciate any one who could give me some advice.

RE: help with dog that shows aggressive behaviour to other animals
Ok well some if this may sound a bit off but you can check it out online I am sure there is information similar to what I will tell you - out there somewhere.

Dogs are by nature more comfortable in pack structure which means someone needs to lead the pack. If you have dogs and are unsure some key things that pinpoint the leader of your pack are: usually enters the door 1st - eats first - blocks walkways etc - gets first go at food or toys.

Once you have established who runs that pack then you need to promote that by feeding the "leader" first and playing with them first or saying hi to them first when you walk in the door and other pets only after the dominant is handled in such a manner. This shows your animals who is alpha and in turns helps to eliminate need for aggressive behavior. Dogs are by nature going to try and establish dominance if there is no clear leader of the pack so by eliminating this confusion in your home you will eliminate (most often) the need for this dog to behave inappropriately around your other animals. I do not know if this will work outside the house pets or not but it would be a good start.

If this does not work and you still want to keep the dog you may want to look into Deference Training. Hope this helps a little at least.
